Frequently Asked Questions

During the examination, the ENT doctor checks the eardrum, hearing, inside of the nose, and the structure of the throat and nasopharynx. Depending on the complaints, endoscopy, hearing tests, or imaging methods may also be performed.

For middle ear infections, the ENT doctor prescribes antibiotics, pain relievers, and decongestants. In recurrent cases, ear tube surgery may be recommended. The aim is to prevent hearing loss and permanent damage.

Yes, an ENT doctor performs not only cosmetic procedures but also functional nasal surgeries to resolve breathing problems. Septoplasty and turbinate reduction are common procedures.

In recurrent throat infections, the ENT doctor recommends immune-boosting strategies, hygiene measures, and if necessary, tonsillectomy to prevent chronic conditions.

The ENT doctor may wait for small perforations of the eardrum to heal on their own. If they do not close, tympanoplasty surgery is performed to repair the eardrum and preserve hearing.

In postnasal drip, the ENT doctor evaluates possible causes such as allergies, sinusitis, reflux, or chronic infections. Treatment depends on the underlying cause and may involve medications, lifestyle adjustments, or surgery.

In cases of sudden hearing loss, the ENT doctor immediately starts corticosteroid treatment. Vasodilator medications and oxygen therapy may also be applied if necessary. Early intervention can prevent permanent hearing loss.

For dizziness, the ENT doctor conducts audiometry, videonystagmography, and balance tests. In inner ear–related issues, special maneuvers and medications are used to restore balance.

For swallowing difficulties, the ENT doctor uses endoscopic examination, ultrasound, and if necessary MRI. Treatment is planned based on causes such as muscular disorders, reflux, or tumors.

For snoring, the ENT doctor may recommend turbinate reduction, soft palate surgery, or a CPAP device. Treatment is tailored to the individual to improve sleep quality and protect overall health.
